Stars *

There are stars where you used to be,
A sky of sweeping bright lights against the darkness,
A space of hope, a hole of loss, a surrounding of smiles,
Never think I gave you half, left half of myself along the way,
Split my heart on the path, my tears on the stones…

I gave everything, all of myself, opened myself to you,
There is nothing you don’t know, nothing I didn’t care for,
Help me to help you understand that it was never trivial,
Help me, because I can’t help myself, checking on you,
Hoping you are you, you are happy and OK, hoping you
Don’t regret me, don’t regret what we were,
Nothing can change our past, those were some of the best times of
Our lives, and I want you to understand that, please.

The stars are pale, yet shining,
We all look at the stars for beauty, inspiration, peace…
I chose the stars because they wanted to give me space,
And that’s all I need, all I need to be me and to choose my own,
My own path.

I know we’ll never be the same, I lost a friend down that path,
I felt lost and alone in the aftermath,
But it was right, it was there,
Don’t ever think I didn’t care,
Because I am still here,
If you ever need me.
As a friend.

I can’t be a wife, I can’t lead a life that’s not true,
I can’t dedicate, I can’t share a bed with you,
It’s too much too soon,
I could not be what you wanted,
But this will always haunt me,
Because now you don’t want to talk to me,
